Fattoria Poggio Alloro

Fattoria Poggio Alloro

I have never enjoyed my time on a farm or winery like this before. The afternoon was spent in the vast wine country where the people and animals are at peace. It was interesting to see how they craft their delicious wine, from growing the grapes on the vineyard to the distilling process. There was something to be said about the love and dedication the family had instilled. Each batch of wine is skillfully crafted and placed carefully in a dry room to age. The smell of the oak barrels were so homely you could feel it in your soul. Our tour guide, Emanuela was such a good sport, herding cats, petting cows, and mashing grapes. I fell in love with the beautiful serenity of the country side. I wish I had more time to spend here. I was eager to volunteer for the family and help out over the summer. My dreams were made true when I learned of the opportunity to come back and help out on the farm and winery. I think I will venture back to Italy a lot sooner than expected.
